Lisa
Moehring, Founder of Save Our Homeless
Pets has been working with Animal Control
since September 2007. Born in Las Vegas
NV, and raised in Cincinnati OH, she
moved to Florida in 1992. In 2005, she
changed careers, becoming a massage
therapist, and moved to Lakeland Florida
to establish a business, and be closer
to her niece, mom, sister and step dad.
Since 2000, she has been a member of
Best Friends Animal Sanctuary which
is where she first heard the No Kill
Philosophy. She did further research,
and found out that other counties in
the US were implementing life saving
programs in an effort to end euthanasia
as a means to control our homeless pet
overpopulation problems.
She wrote up a 10 year plan for Polk
County and approached Sheriff Grady
Judd who was very supportive of her
efforts. Since then, she has been working
hard to establish a coalition with Rescue
Groups to save more animals at the shelter,
and work on establishing an organization
of volunteers to implement this life
saving campaign.
For fun, she loves to spend time at
home with her family, and take her dogs
Rocky, Molly, Rambo, Precious, Momma and Newman to
The Diogi
dog park.
